Collapsing Cities
Auckland’s Collapsing Cities have been recording their second album after returning from a six month stint in the UK.
The first song from that album, “Tazers”, was released to radio on Wednesday 20 May and is a stunning return from the band described by UK magazine Artrocker as
“kicking against the pricks like a team of disco storm troopers, they manage to be humane, pop and – crucially – believable”
After giving us a string of the freshest ramshackle indie pop highlights of the past few years including “Seriously”, “Fear of Opening My Mouth” and “Elixir Always”, the group headed off to release a debut single in the UK on the Way Out West label in mid 2008.
Forty-odd UK shows later, Collapsing Cities had toured with Black Kids, Late Of The Pier, and played at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, where NME published them as one of the magazine’s 10 Hopes of the Near Future, before returning home for a breather and recording session or two.
Armed with the fruits of those sessions, a bagful of cracking new tunes firing off in all directions, and all the hits you love, Collapsing Cities are heading back to the stage in Winter 2009.
An unmissable ramshambleration is guaranteed!
